I have been under the care of Dr. Blackburn for two years now. Due to a bone-on-bone rubbing issue in my thumb joint, he has been injecting it to make it pain-free. He is able to do this procedure every 3 months as needed. My last treatment was 6 months between. I find Dr. Blackburn very knowledgeable and he explains things in a manner the patient is able to understand. I would recommend him to anyone experiencing problems with their hands.

Dr. Blackburn and the staff at South Florida Orthopedic & Sports Medicine are very knowledgeable and Dr. Blackburn’s bedside manner is a breath of fresh air, compared to some of the other medical facilities that I have been to over the years. The office is centrally located in Stuart, with ample parking. If you have difficulty in walking, the facility offers a free valet. The office, which is located on the fourth floor, is very clean, well organized and check in was a breeze. Total wait time in the waiting area was five minutes. I went to see Dr. Blackburn for a problem with my thumb and wrist. Within 20 minutes, x-rays were taken, analyzed and a diagnosis reached. Within five minutes of that, Dr. Blackburn was providing me with an injection to relieve the inflammation and pain at the sight of the injury. I’m not a fan of needles, but he was able to numb the area with a topical solution that resulted in a painless procedure. I’m currently wearing a temporary brace on the hand, but I realized immediate pain relief that night. I highly recommend Dr. Blackburn and his practice.

Dr. Alan Blackburn is new to me as I am to him. Unfortunately I have broken a few bones since turning 50. I am happy that he is now my Dr.! He makes sure to explain the issue so you can understand it. I did not feel rushed, as I have at other Dr.s offices. The fracture, (elbow) I have was hard to see in xrays the first week I went. After two more weeks of exercising the area with weight restrictions, I went back for more xrays. I felt it was OK just a little sore. Dr. Blackburn found a very faint line indicating the break. Thankfully he did. Now more exercises and restrictions for a month. If he had not found it I could have done more damage and required surgery.

I always get excellent care when I come to Dr Blackburn's office. He is very professional his staff is professional. They are down to earth and very easy to relate to. I feel like Dr Blackburn is very knowledgeable about his field and I have complete confidence in his skills. Absolutely the best bedside manner I have experienced from a surgeon! I have been a nurse for 30 years and have a surgical background. Dr. Blackburn is caring, professional and answers all of your questions regardless of the time it takes. I thank God I found him in a very unfortunate accident that shattered my wrist!

Dr. Blackburn was everything I wanted and needed in a doctor for injuries to my hand. Actually, he exceeded my expectations and was such a down to earth, pleasant man to work with, absolutely no ego for how incredibly knowledgeable this doctor is about his craft. I wouldn’t hesitate to send my family and loved ones to him!! Wish all doctors could take a note from his playbook. He’s just awesome!!!

Dr. Blackburn is great! Very nice, explains things in detail and allows time for my many questions. He was great with explaining not just surgical options but also many non-operative options. I had 2 cortisone injections into my CMC joint and he was excellent! I would not have anyone else do those injections! Although surgery is something I will ultimately need, for now I am being managed with medication, injections and bracing. Minimal wait time for the most part and fast check in.
Very thorough explanation of hand issues and process to resolve. Also, the nurses were exceptional in courtesy and kindness and attitude.

I am new in town and arrived with a finger injury acquired en route. A friend recommended Dr. Blackburn and they had an immediate opening to see me. The amazingly quick and efficient intake on a 1st visit left with a clear and accurate Dx and self-managed Tx plan. Today's visit was a follow-up on my self-treatment and was just as quick and professional. We are self-pay (Christian Health Ministries members) and they handled that better than many offices. Follow-up today for possible consequential injury to my ipsilateral shoulder. Dr. Blackburn no longer "does" shoulders and is happy to refer to colleagues who do, but was more than willing to assess my shoulder since he treated my finger. Quick, to the point, decisive, kind, adaptable; a great Doc all around.
