I’m a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, fellowship trained in hand and upper extremity surgery, with a special interest in cutting-edge, minimally invasive techniques for the management of common hand and upper extremity conditions.
This website, and the associated social media accounts, will be updated routinely and have been created to provide an entertaining and educational resource for patients, students, medical trainees, and medical professionals alike. In addition to providing the most current, evidence-based information about common hand and upper extremity conditions, I hope to further provide a glimpse into the world of a practicing orthopaedic hand and upper extremity surgeon.
Performing carpal tunnel release (CTR) under the guidance of ultrasound was first documented in 1997. While CTR with ultrasound guidance is not new, the Sonex Health UltraGuideCTR is a new device first used in a CTR procedure in February 2017. UltraGuideCTR was developed to provide physicians with a simple, elegant, safe and effective tool to perform CTR, with or without ultrasound guidance. When UltraGuideCTR is used with ultrasound guidance, physicians are able to perform open CTR surgery in minutes, through a small, less disruptive incision while providing improved visualization of all critical anatomy in the wrist.
The importance of the hands cannot be overstated. Much of what we do and experience as an individual, and as a result, what defines us as a person, is performed and perceived with our hands. Our hands are the physical connection we each have to the world. It is primarily for this reason that I chose to pursue hand and upper extremity surgery as my life’s work. As a field it uniquely blends well-established treatments, new research and techniques, and meticulous surgical expertise to improve patient function. Whatever your passion may be, and whatever demands you wish to place on your hands, just know that my passion is helping you to achieve your physical goals as quickly and as painlessly as possible.
